BitTorrent and uTorrent are now included in the Instant and Autocomplete functions offered by Google searches, for the first time in two years. But, in contrast to that Google says that no policies have been changed for the sites used for piracy.

In order to help users to search terms on Google, Autocomplete uses predicative algorithms. For instance, if a user types in “Latest S,” Google completes the term with “Latest Songs” or “Latest Soccer Transfer News.” User does not have to type the full term to be searched, Autocomplete completes the term automatically. On the other hand, Instant pulls up the results for that searchk term immediately. It allows the users to get possible results faster.

The websites commonly used for piracy such as Rapidshare and The Pirate Bay are being filtered by Google from both the services about two years ago. Despite this fact, these websites are not removed from Google’s index; user has to type full term to see the results. It seems like a small, change but there is sharp decrease in the search of those terms.

Inclusion of BitTorrent and uTorrent indicates that Google has made some changes in the policies towards these websites, suggested by sites like TorrentFreak. Both of these websites are owned by San Francisco-based BitTorrent Inc. A chart also noted by TorrentFreak showing a sharp increase in the searches for “BitTorrent” in April 2013.

It is never disclosed by the Google exactly which website it adds to its blacklist or why. But it said the inclusion of BitTorrent and uTorrent for Autocomplete and Instant functions by Google is not because of any changes made in the policy towards piracy.

Google spokespersons told IB Times that they frequently made changes and update the Algorithm. This did not happen because of any changes made in the policy towards piracy by Google.

Though the searches for BitTorrent may have increased in recent months, but the larger look about the searches shows that traffic on these sites steadily decreased before levelling out in 2012 after peaking in 2005.

In April 2013 “uTorrent” experienced a spike in searches and now days this website takes pleasure of the most Google traffic search as compared to the traffic it has experienced since 2011. It might be because uTorrent is getting the benfits of Autocomplete and Instant functions offered by Google. But enough data is not available to make these conclusions.
