A member of the site's Staff commented on the recent downtime:

For transparency:
APL is down and will hopefully be up soon. It's rarely down for more than 3 days but not much can be done about it. The reason it's taking so long is because of a lovely key sysop who has sole access to all this being afk for months with extremely limited internet access and next to zero communication with other staff.
He should be returning soon, in which hopefully big changes will happen, starting with transferring many of his permissions and responsibilities which he clearly isn't suited for.
The 'big things' are no lie, staff have lots of things lined up, just can't be pushed onto the tracker because this sysop who has sole access to that ability, dipped out to who knows where with no communication.
Staff are just as fed up, and the moment he returns, changes are happening.
If you'd like more communication I can understand, it just 99% of the time boils down to little more than 'the site hiccuped and we can't do much about it because of this afk staff, and we're just as irritated'.

Good and bad news at the same time. Thank you to inform us.

He is just busy with real life i guess. I hope that guy returns because they are handicapped without him

Finally Is up , they've worked hard on their website (practically making a brand) – so why not take some time to protect it from this downtimes...really not cool!

Because only that one sysop has access to the servers (that's what they are saying). They cannot make any changes without him(including trying to fix errors). I really don't mind waiting few days cause it's not a big deal.

Of course it's a big deal man. Having only 1 person having access to vital hardware is single point of failure.
This goes to servers, domain registration, donations fund etc.

Yes i agree but when i said i don't mind i meant the downtimes and not the access to make changes.
