BTJunie was among those that decided on the latter – voluntarily shutting its doors for good.

It’s been an experience of a lifetime, we wish you all the best!”

If the US govt can use racketeering charges (usually reserved for organized crime groups) against a German citizen living in New Zealand for crimes allegedly committed in the US (copyright infringement) then it means nobody is safe from prosecution under US laws, and you can’t blame the operators of BTJunkie for getting nervous.

But, as is always the case when one BitTorrent tracker site shuts down, there’s still plenty of more ready and willing to take its place.
