How to prepare MediaInfo and Screenshots with seedbox/rutorrent via WEBGUI

If you upload torrents, you will have noticed a lot of high level trackers require two important pieces of information to accompany your torrent file. These are media info and screenshots. Their aim is to provide users with details of a video's encoding properties and quality.

Problem is, if you share torrents from one tracker to another on your seedbox, you may have come across the problem of having to download the files to your computer to gather mediainfo and screenshots. Well, in addition to being able to create .torrent files, rutorrent, with the help of two helpful plugins can produce mediainfo and screenshots, making your life a lot easier.

This particular tutorial will cover the WEBGUI method while another tutorial here will cover the Command Line method.
I’ll leave it up to you to decide which one suits you better.

    1) Click on your particular torrent file and then click on the ‘Files’ tab of the details window.

    2) Locate your video file, right click and select ‘Media Info’.

You can then copy paste your data to the tracker or paste in a text file and upload. (Note: This will only work if you are in the ‘Files’ tab. If you try this in the ‘File Manager’ tab, there is an option for ‘Media Info’ but you won’t be able to copy the data.)

    3) Now that you have uploaded your MediaInfo data, it is time to tackle the screenshots. Firstly, click the settings button in ruttorent’s top menu bar.

    4) Find the ‘Screenshots’ subsection which is right at the bottom of the list. Adjust the settings as follows:
    Frames count
    3
This is the number of screenshots you want generated. I’ve set this to 3 as this is generally the bare minimum for trackers.
    Start frame offset, s
    600
This is when you want your first screenshot taken in seconds. I’ve set this to 600 meaning the first screenshot will be taken at 10mins.
    Time between frames, s
    300
This is the length of time you want between each screenshot. I’ve set this to 300 as I want 5 mins between screens.
    Slideshow interval, s
    3
This represents the time between screens if you use the slideshow feature in rutorrent. I left this at default as I won’t be using it.
    Image format
    PNG
You have a choice of either JPEG or PNG file formats. Choose PNG as this is lossless and won’t include any noise, grain or distortion of JPEG.

    5) Click ‘OK’ and go back to the video file in your ‘Files’ tab. Right click on it and select ‘Screenshots’.

This will open up a new dialog box where you can scroll through your screens and choose to ‘Save’ one or ‘Save all’. (Note: Saving one a time will download each file as a PNG while saving all at once will download a .tar file which you will need to extract.)

    Note:
    1) The screenshot portion of this tutorial will not work for ISO/BDMV m2ts video formats.

And your done! All that’s left to do is upload your screenshots to a web host and paste the URLs into your desired tracker.

Hope this tutorial helped someone out there and as usual, if you find any errors or have any suggestions please let me know.

It is very helpful indeed! I didn't think MediaInfo and screenshots were possible with seedbox/rutorrent
I had to dowmload 3-4 full dvds (thank god not blu rays ) just to make screenshots
    Thanks a whole lot.

Reading this great tutorial though, I have two questions-remarks.

    1) Are you sure Screenshots can be taken from full blu rays also?
I have checked full dvds, mkvs and work fine. But not in full blu rays (I checked 3 of them).
I locate the m2ts files but Screenshots option is not active.

    2) Not that important, and does not happen often, but sometimes we need to take screenshots from specific parts of the film, to include subtitled parts. To show how subtitles appear. So this may not be that easy, it's rather going to happen ...by accident.

Thanks again for this very helpful info.

Sorry I forgot to add that this method does not support ISO/BDMV/m2ts. I've fixed it now. For these files there was a plugin floating around for a while but I can't seem to be able to find it now.

Alternatively, have you tried using VLC to stream the files via HTTP? If you're using one of seedboxes.cc boxes its very simple, just go to the HTTP directory listing which would be:
    http://server.seedboxes.cc/username/downloads
(Replace italics with your own details)

Find your video file, right click, copy link address and paste it in the network/streaming section of VLC's advanced open file dialog box. It might take a bit longer to load up a m2ts file due to its size but it should work. Also I'm running MAC OSX and Chrome so the wording might be a little different for your situation. This should solve your subtitle problem as well.

If this works for you I might write up another tutorial for this method. I just haven't been able to test it on any m2ts files but it definitely works for MKV/AVI/TS.

    It works!
It takes some time to load the file, due to size I guess, It freezes ands starts again, but ... it works
This method also is fine for making screenshots in general (i tested from dvds f.e) and I would call it much better, as we can make screenshots at exactly the time point we want, while with rutorrent screenshots are taken automatically, and we can't set exactly the time we want.
Perhaps the other one is easier, but this one has better results.
Anyway, we have 2 ways to choose and this is great!
    Thank you once more.

You're welcome @RossoBreitner, glad to hear it works for m2ts files! Yeah the lagging and stuttering is the only downside but it should work much better with any x264 encodes, you can probably stream your videos this way as well. I agree this is the better method but I like the automation of rutorrent probably because I'm a lazy shit lol.

Dude, Can we take speedtest of the seedboxes that we are using. I wanna correctly check the speed of my seedbox whether the provider is giving me the required speed or not. This would be much appreciated

    Thank you

All in all, who do you pick and how would you recognize individuals simply in it for a fast buck? Lets discover! Most importantly, I am certain that you could not be perusing this cost of implants perth except if you want some dental treatment right.
