[Tutorial] How to transfer your files to your new Seedbox !
This guide will take you through the process of migrating your files from your old seedbox to the new one.
First, Download FlashFXP and install it (30-day trial is good enough)
Go ahead and run the program. Press F4 to launch the site manager. Click 'Add new site' and pick any name you want. Now fill the fields according to the instructions below.
Connection type:FTP (SFTP is not FXP compatible)
Address:This is your seedbox's domain ie. Server.seedbox.com
Port:21
Login Type:Normal
Username:user
Password: Pass
This is the most important step, look for the tab named 'Transfer' and make sure to set the Site-to-site Method to 'Direct (FXP)' and click Apply
Now that we finished with the first seedbox, it's time to add the second one. Go through the same process again and don't forget the last step.
After setting up both seedboxes it's time to connect to them and transfer our files between them. You can transfer everything or only what you want. It's up to you. Now click the icon with the two monitors that says 'connect' and choose which server you want to establish connection with. When you connect to both servers, start transferring your files to your new seedbox by Right-clicking and then selecting 'Transfer Selected'.
The last step in migrating your data is to transfer your torrents from rTorrent so that you don't have to add them one-by-one. To do this, we need to transfer the folder named '.session' from your old server to the new one. It should be located in one of the following directories:
/home/user/.config/rtorrent/.session
/home/user/private/rtorrent/.session
~/private/rtorrent/work
if you can't find it in the above directories contact you provider and ask them where it is located.
One important step after transferring '.session' is to delete the file called 'rtorrent.lock' (Located inside .session) because it can prevent your torrents from appearing on the new box.
In rutorrent, you may notice that your torrents are not downloaded like they were on your old server. This is because we need to point them to their new directory.
Right-click a torrent then pick 'Save To' and enter the new location, uncheck 'move data' and then 'force recheck data', That's it!
If you run into any problems just ask ;)
