Google has released a new operating system, but Marshmallow is more like an improved Lollipop, with lots of bug fixes and small changes, but if you’ll use a few trips and tricks, you will enjoy this new software even more. However, Android 6.0 will roll out in phases, so if your device hasn’t received it yet, then be patient and wait until the update will be available. Meanwhile, take a look at this list of suggestions that will help you get the most out of Marshmallow.

Uninstalling Applications From The Home Screen

Applications can be now uninstalled from the home screen or even from the app drawer, and you will just need to long-press it. So, for the first variant, at the top of the screen are shown two options: Remove/Uninstall, while for the second variant are displayed App Info and Uninstall. You will just drag the app icon to the option you want.

Granting App Permissions

In Marshmallow, the users can deny specific app permissions and they are allowed to manage app permissions individually. To see permissions for individual applications, the users tap on each one of them from Settings > Apps, and while they’re there, they are able to grant or not permissions. There’s also a list of permissions so that the users can know which app is accessing parts of the system.

Activating Developer Options

This can be done by going to Settings > About Phone and tapping Build Number 7 times. Then, a toast pop-up will notify the users that they are developers. When backing up a step, they will see Developer Options displayed above About Phone. Here, the users will be allowed to enable USB Debugging, OEM Unlocking or Show Touches etc.

Activating Google Now From The Lock Screen

Google replaced the lock screen shortcut for the dialer with Google Now, and this feature allows the users to call their friends without looking for their numbers in the phone book. They just say the name of the person they want to call and Google Now will do the job. To receive the voice command, the users swipe from bottom left corner of the lock screen.

Disabling Notification Peeking

Google introduced heads-up notifications in Lollipop, meaning that they are popping up over the top of the display. In Marshmallow, the users can turn off this feature by going to Settings > Sound & Notifications > App Notifications, where they will switch off “allow peeking”.

Customizing Quick Settings

When enabling the Developer Options, the UI Tuner will become available. The users will switch for Show System UI Tuner in Settings > Developer Options and then they will tap Quick Settings. The System UI Tuner will be seen at the bottom of the Settings list, when backing up a step. In Quick Settings, the users can add tiles by pressing the plus symbol at the bottom, or they can move or delete toggles.
