Konvertor FM is a resourceful application whose primary function is image conversion. However, it packs other handy options under its hood, such as file managing and viewing, image editing, and disc burning.

The installer takes a while to finish and lets you configure some basic options, like creating shortcuts, changing the program destination, and enabling support for additional files types: ArtWeaver, Corel Draw, DjVU, CAD images, Ghostscript, old audio formats, OpenOffice extensions, and 3D formats, among others.

It's ad-free, so you don't have to worry about unwillingly installing third-party components. More importantly, it lets you create a portable version of Konvertor FM. This means that you can specify a folder to contain all configuration files created by the app (either on the HDD or a pen drive), in order to remove all traces from the computer after you're done using it. Plus, it doesn't make any changes to the Windows registry.
Clear-cut interface with file management controls

Made from a large window with an Explorer-style structure, the interface lets you navigate disk directories and open multiple tabs, open or play compatible files, as well as copy a file or folder path to the Clipboard, or a line text as TXT or CSV.

The ribbon bar holds a long list of options to experiment with. One thing about Konvertor FM is that it doesn't fall short when it comes to generous features. Files can be sorted or grouped together by name, extension, format, attributes, size, creation date or last access date, either in ascending or descending order. You can also map network drives or launch programs with administrative rights.
Open and inspect files

It's possible to view a file's metadata, print it or save it to text or XML file, remove metadata to reduce file size (works best for numerous items), and add or extract profiles (EXIF, IPTC, XMP, MakerNotes, ICC). Files may also be directly examined via hexadecimal, decimal, octal or binary display, and the code can be saved to raw binary, plain text, hex string, HTML, C++ source, Assembler source, Base64 or UUEncode format.

Meanwhile, text files can be opened in a built-in viewer of Konvertor FM, edited (including title, author and subject), and saved as new files with the PDF, RTF, TXT or WR1 extension.
View and edit images

When it comes to photos, you can zoom in and out, enter fullscreen mode, view and edit metadata and hex, resize or rotate the pictures, as well as add frames, colorize the images using charcoal, gamma, gamma channel, grayscale, modulate, negate, night vision or normalization.

Their coloring levels may be tweaked by selecting a preferred colorspace (e.g. HSL, HSV, RGB, XYZ), negation (e.g. only red, green or blue channels), mosaic, neon or random mode. Furthermore, you can draw diamond, ellipse, hexagon or triangle shapes, as well as apply watermarks or blind, caricature, puzzle, soft light, tiled blur, black and white, and other types of effects.
Convert images and explore other utilities

Image files can be converted to a long list of file types, including BMP, DDS (DirectDraw Surface), EPS, GIF, HDR, UCI, JPG, MPG, PDF, PS, PSD and WEBP. Batch processing is supported, so you can convert multiple pics at the same time to the same format. The application has readied tools for quickly performing image conversion and resize too.

You can set a picture as the desktop wallpaper, take screenshots and save them locally, upload files to ImageShack or an FTP server, extract audio streams from videos and save them as regular sound tracks, or burn audio CDs. Conversion operations can also be carried out for audio tracks (e.g. WAV, WMA, OGG, MP3), video clips (e.g. MKV, MP4, MOV, SWF, VOB) and text documents (e.g. DOC, PDF, RTF, WPS or XLS).

The Good

The application offers support for multiple UI languages, keyboard shortcuts, and add-ons. It's wrapped in a user-friendly interface that contains a file navigator. You can view hex code, convert multiple photos in bulk to a wide range of formats, capture snapshots, and edit photos in numerous ways.

Konvertor FM's functionality doesn't end at images, though. It also lets you view text files, extract audio files from videos and save them locally or burn them to a CD, or upload items to ImageShack or FTP.

The Bad

The interface seems a bit awkward to work with. For example, the built-in image viewer automatically resets a picture to its actual size after applying an effect, forcing you to trigger the option for fitting it to the screen every time you want to preview changes. This kind of seemingly minor issues make Konvertor FM difficult to use at times.

The Truth

Although the UI design has some drawbacks, Konvertor FM proves to be a feature-rich tool not only designed for image conversion, but also for photo manipulation and file management. It can be handled by all user levels.
