You can capture and record Internet radio stations when you install sound recording software on your desktop or laptop computer. There are various types of sound recording software available, which allows you to capture any sound from your computer’s sound card and speakers. For example, Free Sound Recorder is an easy to use program that is capable of recording live streaming radio broadcasts. And, you can save the audio broadcasts as MP3, WMA or WAV files on your hard drive.

Instructions:

Step 1:

Download and install “Free Sound Recorder” software on your desktop or laptop computer. Check you computer to make certain that it meets the software's system requirements and your computer has enough free disk space to run the program.

Step 2:

Double-click on the “Free Sound Recorder” installation icon to install the files on your computer. After the installation process is complete, “Free Sound Recorder” pop up window will appear on your desktop.

Step 3:

Click on the “Settings” button on “Free Sound Recorder” and then press the “General Settings” tab. Under the “Output File Type” option, select the radio button for the sound source type that you want to use, such as “Wave File”, “MP3 File” or “WMA File.”

Step 4:

Click on the “Change” button under “Output Directory” and select the file path where you want to save the audio broadcast. Press the “OK” button.

Step 5:

Click on the “Device” button and select the recording device that you want to use from the drop down menu.

Step 6:

Adjust the settings for the “Recording Mixer” to increase or decrease the volume on the “Free Sound Recorder.”

Step 7:

Open your web browser and type the URL address of the Internet radio stream that you want to record. Once you hear the play-back, go to “Free Sound Recorder” and press the “Record” button. Create a file name and press the “OK” button to start recording.

Step 8:

Click the “Stop” button when you have finished recording. Locate the audio file on your computer and click on it to play-back the Internet radio stream that you recorded.
