A TEENAGER’S eyes were “split in two” when he was blasted in the face at point blank range by a paint gun in a Magaluf nightclub.

Dillon Connery, 18, is fighting for his sight after his eyeballs were "destroyed" during a horror accident in Spain.

The teen's mum Ashleigh Connery, 42, of Paisley, Scotland, told how his injuries were the worst the surgeon has seen.

Speaking from his bedside in a Spanish hospital, she said: "We’re devastated. His eyes have been destroyed.

"Dillon has been left in an incredible amount of pain. He had a very bright future and now everything has changed.

“He’s been constantly asking if his sight could return. He’s trying to be hopeful but it’s very hard — it’s heartbreaking that he is going through this.”

Dillon, an apprentice at a cyber security firm, was just days into his first lads’ break at the time of the horror.

It is understood he was hit by a stream of liquid from a stage-mounted gun spraying revellers with UV paint at the Carwash club in the Majorcan party resort.

His injuries were so severe that hospital staff and his pals initially thought he had been attacked.

A photo shows him in hospital with gauze on his eyes and hooked up to monitors.

Ashleigh added: “His friend went to the bar and was gone for no longer than five minutes when he came back to find Dillon slumped over.

“Days of not knowing exactly what happened have just added to the whole ordeal.

“But we now know he was hit at close range by a handmade paint gun and has been left with no sight.”

Ashleigh flew out to Majorca as soon as she learned of the horror earlier this month, and has been keeping vigil by her terrified son’s side ever since.

Specialists in Spain have already carried out a series of surgical procedures.

Medics are hopeful that he could one day regain vision in his right eye.

Rave-style paint parties have become hugely popular at holiday resort nightclubs all over Europe.

The glowing paint is sprayed onto the crowd, who are encouraged to wear white and revel in the mess.

Dillon is due to fly back to Glasgow in the coming days to begin months of gruelling treatment in the hope of saving his sight.

Mum-of-two Ashleigh added: “We just want to make people fully aware of how dangerous these paint parties can be.

“This could happen to anyone’s child and we just want to make sure it doesn’t happen to anyone else.”

Spanish cops have launched a probe after Ashleigh reported the incident last week.

Carwash nightclub’s owners could not be reached for comment.
