IT IS arguably the most horrifying footage to emerge from Italy in recent years.

A silo explodes sending 30,000 litres of Prosecco to its death.

Yes, that’s right. 30,000 litres. (The humanity!)

Not since the Mt Barker milk spill of 2012 has there been so much crying. 45,000 litres of creamy white goodness was lost that day, closing major roads and devastating locals.

This time the massive loss of the Italian bubbly happy juice has left not just Italy but the rest of the world in mourning.

How could this happen? Why was this precious resource not constantly monitored around the clock? How will groups of women around the world get drunk now?

According to local reports, the ‘incident’ at the Conegliano Veneto winery in northern Italy, was caused by human error.

Apparently, someone filled the silo far beyond its capacity (what were they thinking?!) causing it to explode.

Footage of the spill was posted on Facebook by L’enoteca Zanardo Giussano.

Despite it’s graphic content, the video has been viewed more than 1.1 million times and shared more than 11,000 times.

Vale sweet Prosecco. Vale.
