A WORKER at the group which gives National Lottery cash to good causes has been sacked for fraud, we can reveal.

The Big Lottery Fund, which dished out £508million in 2017/18, secretly fired the dishonest employee last year.

The BLF last night refused to provide further details but said the case had been referred to the City of London police.

We can also reveal how the worker was one of three members of BLF staff dismissed in 2017.

Another was booted out for misusing company property while the other involved a code of ethics breach.

Five other staff were sacked in 2015.

Three were fired for “poor performance” and the others for inappropriate behaviour. Since 2015, workers have been disciplined for abusing flexi-time, attendance and confidentiality breaches.

The figures were released after a freedom of information request by The Sun on Sunday.

A BLF spokeswoman said yesterday: “We have a robust set of policies regarding staff conduct.

“Any behaviour that falls short of our expectations is dealt with rigorously and swiftly.”
