A MAN has told how his best mate’s girlfriend slashed his neck with a knife — because she was jealous of their bromance.

Jodie Goodwin, 20, allegedly lunged at Anthony Milburn’s throat, opening up a large gash and narrowly missing vital blood vessels, according to reports by The Sun.
She was furious when her then-lover Andrew Kane said he and his friend Anthony were going to a house party after a night in the pub.

She armed herself with a 15cm kitchen knife, waved it at Kane then plunged it into Milburn’s neck.

The wound was 10cm long and almost 4cm deep, needed 16 stitches and left a permanent scar.

Milburn, 27, a father-of-two, said today: “My best mate’s girlfriend could have killed me — all because she was jealous.

“Me and Andrew were having a good laugh so when I found out a friend was having a house party nearby I said ‘Let’s go’.

“Jodie had a face like thunder and hissed ‘You’re not going with him’.

“She stormed into the kitchen and returned seconds later with the knife.

“After waving the blade towards Andrew she waved it towards me. Then she pounced — it all happened so fast.

“Her face went pale — my blood was gushing everywhere.

“The room was hazy and I was taken to hospital where a nurse told me I should have bled to death.

“My youngest turned one the following week and I might not have lived to see his first birthday.”

The trio had been out drinking in February 2016 before they returned to Jodie’s house.

Newcastle crown court heard she was “jealous of the close friendship he had with her boyfriend” and had openly voiced her dislike for him in the past.

Jessica Slaughter, prosecuting, said she “leaned forward and slashed his neck”.

She was arrested later that day and initially claimed it had been an accident while she was cutting pizza.

She then falsely claimed Milburn had made sexual advances towards her.

Mum-of-one Goodwin admitted wounding without intent and was jailed for 27 months in October.

Sentencing judge Mr Recorder Wheeler said she was lucky to avoid a murder charge.

Ian Hudson, mitigating, said it was a “drunken, spontaneous act” and Goodwin had matured since having a baby.
