A WOMAN has been stabbed multiple times in a street in Battersea.

Cops said a man later handed himself in at Notting Hill police station claiming to be the attacker.

The victim, believed to be in her 20s, was rushed to a south London hospital, her condition is not currently known.

The male was arrested on suspicion of GBH and remains in custody.

A Met police spokesman told Sun Online: "A female, thought to be aged in her 20s, is reported to have been attacked by a male then who then fled the scene.

"The victim was taken to a south London hospital. We await an update as to her condition.

They added: "Later in the evening a male presented himself at Notting Hill police station in connection with the incident."

Yesterday a boy, 16, was left fighting for life in an unconnected shooting in near-by Wandsorth, south west London.

London has seen a sharp increase in street violence in 2018, and many of the attacks have been fatal.

Recent figures from London's Metropolitan police showed that knife crime has surged by 16 per cent in the capital — as Britain's crime epidemic continues.

The total tally of murder victims in London had reached 91 by August 2018, with several of them the result of shootings.
