A BRIT woman has been found dead on a luxury superyacht just hours after celebrating England“s penalty win over Colombia.

Rebecca Boyle, 32, had only started work as chief stewardess onboard the six million pound 47 metre La Polonia last week and had been out with crew members after the match.

Local reports said she had come back drunk and fallen down the stairs and suffered a fatal head injury but cops said it was too early to tell and were investigating the circumstances of her death.

Maltese registered La Polonia had arrived at the Italian Riviera port of Imperia last week and was undergoing a changeover ahead of a new arrival.

Officials said Rebecca had only joined the yacht last week after being hired from a Monaco based crewing company.

Crew members from La Polonia had watched the match with deck hands from a neighbouring yacht called Dynamic in a bar and Rebecca had joined them later to celebrate the win.

Local reports said that when the group returned they had jumped into the hot tub on the La Polonia and carried on partying but after a while Rebecca was said to have gone back to her cabin "the worse for wear".

Crew members raised the alarm yesterday morning when she failed to turn up for breakfast and found her lifeless in her cabin.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene but she was declared dead and TV news reports showed her body being taken away in a private ambulance.

A police spokesman told The Sun:''We have seen the reports that she was out celebrating England's win in town but at this stage we cannot say if drink played a part because no autopsy has been carried out.

"At this stage it is to early to say and her death is being treated as unexplained. We cannot yet rule out third party involvement."

A local prosecutor in Imperia has opened a file on the case and yesterday crew members of both yachts were being questioned by police and coastguard officials.

La Polonia was built in 1999 and has a top speed of 20 knots. She can accommdate 10 guests and seven crew, with a range of 3,000 miles. She costs 150,000 pounds a week to charter.

Maritime records showed that she had been sailing between the French and Italian Riveiras last week.

Last week Rebecca, who was from Notting Hill, west London, posted on Facebook asking for a second stewardess who had yacht and hospitality experience to work on the La Polonia
