    What's your field of work/study?

Curiosity killed the cat, but made man go to the moon, so here's me asking you guys out of curiosity what is your field of work/study and (quite importantly) why?

I'll start by saying for myself i'm into general medicine, studying, because it just gives me no opportunity to be bored. Of course there are lots of other reasons, but i'm more interested in finding out yours!

    So what about you?

I work for large business as a Access Control contractor.
Everything from IP Cameras and HID Key Card systems, to panic bar and ADA door operator installations.

It's good fun, wide variety of work we do. Could be hours setting up a new DSX access control system sitting in a chair, or I could be sweating my ass off running composite cable in a drop ceiling or attic.

I'm sure that's awesome work, but probably frustrating too, at times, am i right? But variety is essential, imo. Still i gotta ask you this, do you ever see funky stuff people do at work? Or do you just let security handle that part?

Lol, I work with other contractors at big jobs all the time. It's amazing some of the Mcguyver crap people get away with. There are some times when I wanna just ask people what the hell they are thinking.Last week I watched one guy use actual gorilla glue on some some screws he stripped out installing hinges on a wood frame and door.
I see all kinds of horrible jobs when we get called out to fix another companies work when the customer can no longer get in touch with the original installer.
Pretty sad where some people's pride has gone.

I work as a developer for a major website, focused on front-end development. In a way I feel lucky to have turned a hobby into a career. There are challenges though.. with the web constantly evolving and new technologies springing up, we always have to keep ourselves up-to-date.

I'm in School double majoring in Computer Science and Physics. Not exactly sure what I want to do with that besides some kind of software development that hopefully can use my physics background. I also work part-time at a large convention hotel in the business center where we handle all the shipping receiving for the hotel as well as run a small print shop.

Well that seems like a lot of work, Noose. I mean being in school's hard enough, working just makes it "fun", doesn't it? Lol. Cool though, print shop and all. Computer science and physics, that sounds quite vague to me, moreover because even you're unsure of what to do afterwards. What exactly does computer science do, is it related to chip architecture and all that?

Ya, it's definitely a lot of work but I enjoy it for the most part. I like my job most days and my boss is a a friend of mine and my other co-workers are great. My classes are pretty good for the most part and getting more interesting the further along I get.

Computer science is largely about software, programming and algorithms. Lots of practical programming practice and a lot of math. We touch on hardware stuff like CPU's, computer architecture, etc, to get a basic understanding of it but that is not the focus of the degree.
