A man has survived being attacked by a shark while spearfishing in the Bahamas.

The predator sunk its teeth into the back of Will Krause’s neck and head.

Fellow fishermen raced to the surface before peering back down below, their mate nowhere to be seen.

Then he pops up.

“I felt a huge impact on my head and my neck,” Mr Krause said.

“I didn’t process that it was a shark bite until I got to the surface.”

Mr Krause made a panicked paddle to safety - injured, bleeding but alive.

“I could see a lot of blood around me... so I was nervous that my time was up,” the 29-year-old said.

Mr Krause said the ordeal had given him a new perspective on “how I want to live the rest of my life”.
