WASHINGTON, April 5 (Itar-Tass) - RIA Novosti. The US plans to impose sanctions against Russian businessmen for "interference in the elections" by the end of the week, Fox News reported citing a source in the White House.

The names of those against whom sanctions will be imposed are not called, according to The Washington Post, they will affect at least six "oligarchs".

In March, the United States made 19 Russian citizens and 5 legal entities on the sanctions list, accusing them of interfering in elections to the US, an investigation was launched against these individuals by a team of special prosecutor Robert Mueller.

Sanctions were introduced in the framework of the Law on Countering America's Enemies through Sanctions (CAATSA), as well as executive order 13694 on "Blocking the property of certain individuals involved in significant malicious cyberactivity."

In particular, the list included Russian businessman Yevgeny Prigogine and companies that are part of his holding Concord. Sanctions have also been introduced against the FSB and the GRU and against the leadership of the GRU. These sanctions mean that the assets of the persons on the list will be frozen in the US, and citizens and permanent residents of the United States will be prohibited from doing any business with them.

US special services accuse Russia of "interfering in the elections" in 2016. The intelligence committees of both chambers of the congress are conducting their investigations. Muller deals separately. Earlier, he accused 13 Russians and three legal entities of trying to interfere in the elections in the United States.

Both the White House and the Kremlin have repeatedly refuted suspicions. The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov called the accusations "absolutely unsubstantiated."
