A man in New Jersey, US, has been charged with insurance fraud after allegedly pretending to slip on ice blocks in his workplace kitchen.

CCTV footage of the man’s fall, which has since gone viral, shows 57-year-old Alexander Goldinksy throwing a cup of ice on the floor before feigning a tumble.

It’s understood Goldinksy then waited on the ground until he was discovered by other employees.

Prosecutors from Middlesex County said the man filed a false insurance claim for ambulance service and hospital treatment for his injuries.

"The investigation revealed that Goldinsky purposely threw the ice on the floor in the cafeteria at his workplace, placed himself on the ground, and waited until he was discovered," the Prosecutor's Office said in a media release.

Goldinsky was charged with one count of insurance fraud in the third degree and one count of theft by deception in the third degree.

The charge follows a crackdown on insurance fraud in the area, and Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey promises to “aggressively prosecute those who illegally manipulate the system.”
