TRIBUTES have been paid to a Glasgow teenager who died suddenly – with classmates offered counselling following the tragedy.

The schoolgirl was named locally as Kornelia Burak, who was a pupil at Lenzie Academy.

Kornelia, a Celtic FC fan, was originally from Węgorzewo in Poland before moving to Glasgow.

It is understood Kornelia was not at school at the time of her death.

Last night tributes were paid to the teenager.

Her devastated boyfriend Kyle Callaghan wrote on Instagram: “Can’t believe it, words cannot describe how much I miss you. Thank you for everything, making me laugh and always being there for me.

"Will miss you more than anything, you will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace my beautiful baby.

“You’ll always be my little angel, you’re no longer in any pain and can finally rest. Rest in peace beautiful. All my love.”

Close friend Niamh Mcguire wrote on social media: “It’s just about breaking my heart that I’m writing this post but today I lost my childhood best friend Kornelia.

You were one of a kind and the memories we had will never leave.

“We have lost an amazing person but heaven has gained an angel.”

Friend Lucy Clark wrote on Instagram: “Rest in peace to the most beautiful girl I know. You made me laugh and I f***ing love you so much, loved how weird and quirky you are and I will cherish every single thing you ever said to me. Love you forever.”

Shelby Taylor wrote: “Most gorgeous human being I know…fly high angel.”

East Dunbartonshire Council confirmed a pupil had passed away and that counselling was being offered to any school pupils who require it.

Ann Davie, East Dunbartonshire Council's deputy chief executive, said: "We have been informed about the death of a Lenzie Academy pupil.

"Support is being provided to pupils and staff at the school and our thoughts are with family and friends at this very sad time."
