KYIV, 21 July - RIA Novosti. Ukraine is negotiating with Western partners to impose sanctions against the Black Sea ports of the Russian Federation due to the blockade of the Azov Sea, said Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan.

"We are negotiating with our European and American partners to apply the appropriate sanctions to the Black Sea ports of the Russian Federation due to the blockade of the Sea of Azov and Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov," Omelyan quotes 112 Ukraine as saying.

Earlier, the faction of the party "Self-help" in the Verkhovna Rada demanded from the leadership of Ukraine to terminate the agreement with Russia on the joint use of the Azov Sea and the Kerch Strait. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure, the Russian Federation from April 29 to July 9, detained 93 ships without any explanations for the reason, leaving the ports of Ukraine through the Kerch Strait, because of which the vessels are idle, and their owners are suffering losses. Subsequently, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Elena Zerkal said that Russian border guards do not violate the protocols during the inspection of Ukrainian ships in the Azov Sea.

As noted in an interview with RIA Novosti deputy director of the Federal Security Service of Russia - head of the border service of the Federal Security Service, General of the Army Vladimir Kulishov, provocative actions are periodically carried out against Russian economic activities in the Black Sea adjacent to the Crimea, as well as vessels following the ports of the peninsula.

Omelyan previously stated the need to impose sanctions on Russian ports in the Black Sea as a retaliatory measure to detain Russia by ships going to Ukrainian ports.

In turn, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Victor Vodolatsky said that no state will advocate imposing sanctions on Russian Black Sea ports. He explained this by the fact that all logistics centers and companies operate including through Russia and its ports.
