A British man has been arrested for allegedly being involved in a US Department of Defense hacking operation.

The 23-year-old, who was not identified, is suspected of stealing data from the DoD, including contact information for around 800 employees and information used to identify thousands of devices, the New York Times reported on Friday.

However, the National Crime Agency of Britain said in a statement to the Times that “no sensitive data was obtained” and the cyberattack did not have an effect on US security.

The agency believes that the 23-year-old suspect posted evidence of the hacking of the DoD's communication system on Pastebin, according to the Times.

The post on the website, addressed to the group Lizard Squad, included comments like “We’re in your bases, we control your satellites” and “The missiles shall rein upon thy who claim alliance, watch your heads."

“Live Free Die Hard! DoD, DISA EMSS : Enhanced Mobile Satellite Services is not all, Department of Defense has no Defenses," the message in the post continued.

The Times reported that the arrest was one of dozens made by police across Britain over the last week as an effort by the agency’s National Cyber Crime Unit.

The hacking apparently occurred last June. The man has not been charged.
