On March 5, 2020, the top three finalists of the 2020 World Car Awards were announced. The top three are Kia Telluride, Mazda CX-30 and Mazda 3. Two Mazda vehicles are finalists. Mazda 3 has also been selected as the top three in the World Car Design Awards.





The World Car Awards (WCA) have been announcing finalists in each category on the first day of the Geneva show every year for 11 years. However, this time the show itself was canceled due to the coronavirus. As a result, the finalists’ announcements and press conferences had to be canceled.


In this Geneva show, various announcements from each manufacturer scheduled for Press Day were made online.

The World Green Car Award has been removed from the list this time.



After rigorous and detailed evaluations, Internet polls and tallying by the prestigious accounting firm KPMG, the final announcement and awards ceremony of the six categories including the World Car Person of the Year Awards are on April 8, at the New York International Auto Show. The results of the winners in each category are not even known to the parties involved until the moment they are opened, similar to Academy Awards.
