TWO cops were stabbed and another left with a head injury after responding to a brutal brawl in Islington, officers say.

Police were called to a house in Liverpool Road, North London, just before 10.45pm to reports of a fight but were "met with hostility" on arrival.

Two officers received knife wounds and another suffered a head injury, while their conditions are not believed to be life threatening, cops say.

A Met Police spokeswoman said three men have been arrested.

Two were taken to a north London police station where they remain at this time.

The third was taken to a central London hospital for treatment, however, there are no details on his condition at this stage.

The police spokeswoman said: "At this early stage officers remain on scene and cordons are in place.

"Traffic is running freely in both directions on Liverpool Road."

Officers are continuing their investigation.
