“Lasers, fire and robots” sounds more like a description of the latest James Bond flick than a children’s festival.

Then again, the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) Carnival more closely resembles the set of a blockbuster film than your average kid’s event.

Developed in Los Angeles by Two Bit Circus, the STEAM Carnival is making its explosive Australian debut at the Canning Showgrounds on Saturday, December 8.

The event is headlined by ten giant technology games specifically engineered by Two Bit Circus to blur the lines between the physical and digital worlds.

Brothers Jai and Hudson Grieves could not wipe the smiles off their faces as they road-tested one of the games, KINGS, with Two Bit Circus’s Justin Finuliar this week. “Two Bit Circus is a band of mad scientists, roboticists, visual artists and storytellers,” Mr Finuliar said.

“We want attendees to be free to explore and have fun, but more importantly, be curious and look under the curtains of each experience, behind the wonder of the smoke and mirrors, understand the STEAM concepts that went into each attraction and ultimately be inspired to make something grand themselves.”

In addition to the games,The carnival also includes a big top circus tent filled with circus performers and Scitech shows, key note speakers, hands on workshops, STEAM exhibits, costumed characters, roving entertainment and a gastronomy food village with themed eats.

Container bar “Science on Tap” will also be available to adults from 4pm.

Tickets cost $10 per person or $25 for a family pass (two adults and two children or one adult and three children).
