President Donald Trump on Monday night called on China to "put a heavy move on North Korea" following reports that North Korea launched a ballistic missile.

"North Korea has just launched another missile. Does this guy have anything better to do with his life? Hard to believe that South Korea..... ....and Japan will put up with this much longer. Perhaps China will put a heavy move on North Korea and end this nonsense once and for all," the president wrote on Twitter.

North Korea launched a ballistic missile Tuesday morning, one of a string of test-firings in recent months as the North works to build a nuclear-tipped missile that could reach the United States. It was unclear whether it was a short-range missile or a long-range missile.

The missile, according to the Associated Press, flew for 40 minutes before landing in the Sea of Japan within waters where Japan claims economic rights.

Trump has pushed China, along with Japan and South Korea, to keep North Korea from becoming a nuclear threat to the region and the world.
