A TOP lawyer has been suspended from his £900,000-a-year job after he was filmed watching porn — by a rival firm over the road.

The partner had sat at a computer viewing hardcore romps with his back to a window.

But he was unaware that a legal eagle in an office just across a narrow lane was capturing the compromising scene on a mobile.

They later sent the footage to the man’s bosses.

International firm Hogan Lovells confirmed yesterday they had suspended an unnamed senior lawyer.

The identity of the sender, who works for personal injury specialists Irwin Mitchell, was also unknown last night — as was their motive.

Matthew Rhodes, of law news website RollOnFriday, said of the adult entertainment fan: “He’s an idiot for watching porn on his office computer, but it clearly wasn’t illegal.

“It’s not clear whether anything even more embarrassing was going on as he did so.

"But this will have effectively destroyed his career in a profession where reputation is all.

“The focus among many lawyers is on finding who sent the footage.”

Irwin Mitchell is one of Britain’s biggest firms with offices in 14 cities and 2,100 staff.

The company’s smart London base at Holborn Viaduct is separated from Hogan Lovells’ swish base at Atlantic House by a narrow lane.

Hogan Lovells said: “We were made aware of an individual in our office misusing their computer to watch adult material.

"Such behaviour is unacceptable and we have suspended them pending a full investigation.”

Yesterday lawyers blasted the mystery whistle-blower online.

One said: “Massive shame to lose a career over something so stupid. Shame on you, Irwin Mitchell snitch.”

Another wrote: “It wasn’t illegal content so why would you do that unless you’re bitter that you’re working at IM rather than HL?”
