TIRED tot Riley Guest tried to boost his energy — by eating two batteries.

Riley, four, found the Duracell and Kodak AAA cells in a torch.

He bit the top of one and gnawed the second before crying out in pain.

Brother Luke, 13, alerted their parents who rushed Riley to hospital.

Doc sent him for X-rays, but he was allowed home after four hours of scans and is expected to have suffered no ill-effects.

Mum Beckie, 34, said: “Riley said he’d run out of batteries and needed to recharge himself.

“He had been in bed so he was obviously feeling tired. We always told him you need sleep to recharge your batteries.

“He was crying and very pale. Amazingly he hadn’t swallowed the battery casings, which could be fatal. I don’t think he’ll try it again. We’ve taken the batteries out of his toys.”

Riley, of Ringstead, Northants, has Silver-Russell syndrome which makes him hyperactive.
