THERESA May posed for a selfie in Waitrose after she was spotted doing last minute Christmas food shop.

The cheerful Prime Minister, 62, got up close and personal with fellow shopper Charles Chapman on Friday night.

She was in the Twyford branch with husband Philip, and her four bodyguards when she was noticed.

Charles was looking for bread when he bumped into Mrs May who was also looking for the perfect loaf.

He told MailOnline: "She was in high spirits. I thought she had been through a tough time lately so I put my arm around her and asked for a photo.

"When I asked her to press the shutter, she knew what to do."

After having a cheeky look into the trolley Philip pushed, Charles said it looked like they were "planning a big dinner".

He said: 'It looked like she was planning a big dinner.

"I have seen her in Waitrose before - but that was before she was one of the most famous people in the world."
