A female high school teacher is alleged to have had a three-and-a-half-year sexual relationship with a pupil at the school where her husband is principal.

PE teacher and volleyball coach Angela Webb, was arrested a week ago over the claims.

Her husband Marshall Webb has now been put on leave from work.

The California couple both worked at schools in in Tulare, between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Mrs Webb, 50, has been released from jail on $250,000 bail, according to the Fresno Bee Newspaper.

Police told the paper the victim, who has not been identified, was a former student at Tulare Western School, where Mrs Webb used to work before moving to another school in the district, Tulare Union - where her husband was Dean of Students.

Police said the victim has confirmed the allegations of sexual acts involving the teacher.

No charges have been laid against her.

Mr Webb was made principal last month at another district school, Sierra Vista Charter High School.
