A FRANTIC mum pulled her two toddlers to safety from an electric toy jeep just seconds before it exploded in a fireball.

Shocking footage shows the £390 SPORTrax Awesome XL toy in flames moments after Michelle Kline rescued her young kids.

The children, aged three and 16 months, were happily driving around in the £390 SPORTrax Awesome XL toy when Michelle noticed smoke rising from the hood.

Before she knew it, the toy was engulfed in fire and her kids were still stuck inside the death trap in her neighbour's yard in North Andover, Massachusetts.

She rushed over and dragged them from the little vehicle, luckily before they suffered any burns or injuries.

Within minutes of the daring rescue, all that remained of the toy was a charred, unrecognisable heap of plastic on the ground.

Michelle told CBS Boston: "They were buckled in and they are both little so neither of them could have gotten themselves out."

She said the family had bought the car as a joint birthday present for two of their kids but now the manufacturer refuses to speak to them.

Michelle added: "They did say to the fire inspector, that they did put a lot of fail safes into the car to protect people from this happening, which is again is part of reason we did purchase this car."

Fire Chief Bill McCarthy said the fire could have started near the batteries but it was difficult to tell because there was not much left.

He notified the Consumer Product Safety Commission, fire marshal and manufacturer to make sure no other kids are caught up in a blaze.

Meanwhile, Michelle said her kids are fine and her little boy got the chance to say goodbye to his jeep.

“Last night when he was going to bed he said goodbye to his jeep on the front lawn,” said Kline.

They are now relegated to playing with the old school pedal bike. The manufacturer did not return a request to comment.
