SPIES who carry out chemical weapons attacks will face tough new sanctions from the EU.

Agents involved in novichok-style hits could be hit by travel bans and have their assets frozen.

The UK and France drew up the changes in the wake of attacks in Syria and Salisbury and they will be formally adopted tomorrow (MONDAY).

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said: “For years there has been an international taboo on the use of chemical weapons but that is at risk now after Syria and Salisbury.

“We now need to redraw the red line that says that for anyone using these horrific weapons the price will always be too high.”
