THE Heavens opened over parts of Darwin city on Tuesday morning as the first solid rain fell on the CBD since the last Wet Season.

The clouds opened up just after 11am for a couple of minutes but it really started to get heavy just before 11.30am.

The shower lasted for about 10 minutes but wasn’t enough to cause any problems as Darwinites seemed happy to embrace the rain after a long Dry.

The showers brought a familiar Wet Season scene with the view across the harbour clouded momentarily as the skies opened.

A few smaller showers fell over Darwin late last month with surrounding areas such as Gunn Point receiving smatterings of rain in the past few weeks.

Decents falls were also reported throughout Palmerston on Monday, and also in Humpty Doo, Katherine and Jabiru.
