Opinion Pedestrians go bananas

Trust us, we're journalists...

There's already quite a bit of legislation around the world about people using their smartphones while they are driving - and a good thing too - although we understand why drivers rely on GPS.

But there's a far bigger danger to people using their smartphones while they are walking around - they are a peril not only to themselves, but to cars, and to other pedestrians . And to peace of mind.

Obviously I am an old fashioned guy, born in 1949, but as I navigate the streets I see so many "millenials" totally oblivious of everyone else as they navigate their smartphones and keep walking into other people but hopefully not into vehicles.

As an unreconstructed guy, if I get an email on my smartphone, or if someone calls me, I stop. Not suddenly, like some people do. Causing danger.

I consider the message on my smartypants phone or my email, and think, well I'll get round to that sooner or later.

Obviously, I am and have been a tech journalist and have to respond to roumers like "Intel buys AMD". And, as you know, the strangest deals obviously happen on late Friday.
But that is a non-runner. The alliance between AMD and Intel, though, is well interesting, as Fudo pointed out earlier.

Sunnyvale and San Jose. A marriage made in heaven, or in hell? Luckily for me, I believe in neither.
