Siri Lags Behind Alexa And Google Assistant With 52 Percent Accuracy
Apple’s HomePod smart speaker is now available to everyone. As of now, we’re hearing positive reviews on the sound quality of the device despite its smaller form factor. However, there are other factors that also need to be considered apart from the sound quality alone. Henceforth, Loup Ventures took the liberty to run a series of tests over the weekend which will give you a clearer insight on how the Siri-powered speaker stacks up against the competition from Alexa and the Google Assistant.
Siri On HomePod Scores Behind Google Assistant And Alexa In Questions Answered Correctly
The HomePod test ran through Siri a list of 782 questions which includes the “comprehensive tests of sound quality and ease of use.” While able to understand 99.4 percent of the commands, Apple’s virtual assistant was able to answer 52.3 percent properly. This in comparison with the Google Home was quite below with the Google Assistant reaching the 81 percent of commands answered properly.

In contrast to the Amazon smart speaker, Alexa reached 64 percent while Microsoft’s Cortana reached 57 percent, both which are comparatively higher in terms of percentage. However, we should also take note that some of the questions asked in the test are yet not supported by the HomePod which constitutes of queries related to navigation, calling and email. Removing such type of questions from the list raised the command response rate to 67 percent, which is above the percentage scored by Alexa and Cortana.
"Last week we surveyed 500 people in the U.S. and found 3.3% said they would purchase a HomePod in the next year. Among those surveyed who already own an Apple product, 5.2% planned on buying a HomePod. This is similar to 7% of Apple product owners planned to buy an Apple Watch ahead of its launch in Spring of 2015."
Loup Ventures also surveyed 500 people in the United States and found results which suggested that 3.3 percent of them were planning to get the HomePod next year. At this point in time, Apple is marketing its HomePod as great Siri-powered smart speaker. There will be more to this, so be sure to stay tuned in for more.
This is all for now, folks. What are your thoughts on Apple’s HomePod scoring behind the Google Assistant, Alexa and Cortana in terms of questions answered correctly? Share your views with us in the comments.
