SENIOR medics spied on Man United icon Sir Alex Ferguson as he fought for life, it has been claimed.

A consultant, two doctors and at least two nurses are being quizzed on allegations they illicitly accessed his records.

They were not on his treatment team. Investigators at Salford Royal Hospital, Gtr Manchester, think they looked at his notes out of curiosity.

Ex-boss Sir Alex, 76, was rushed to hospital in May with a brain haemorrhage. It has “apologised unreservedly to the patient and family”, The Sunday Times reported.

If guilty, the medics could be struck off for breaking data and patient privacy rules. Hospital chiefs confirmed: “Investigations are ongoing.”
