A WOMAN charges with murder after the death of a baby girl in West Croydon.

Cops were called at 11.57am on Saturday to reports of an unresponsive three-month-old at a house in south London.

The youngster was taken to hospital and despite desperate attempts to revive her, she pronounced dead about an hour later.

Officers said the family have been informed and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Earlier, a spokesperson for Scotland Yard said: "A woman, aged 40, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. She is currently in police custody.

"At this early stage, police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation.

"The baby and the woman arrested were known to each other.

"Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances."
