THIS is the shocking moment a brazen thief stole a family's £1,000 pug from their garden in broad daylight.

CCTV images show the man breaking into the family home in Sheffield, South Yorks, on Friday morning.

The owner had put white pug Daisy in the garden but was heartbroken to find she had gone missing just minutes later.

Her four-year-old daughter has been left in tears after watching their CCTV and keeps asking: "Why has that man taken our doggy?"

Shocking footage shows the man enter their garden before trying to entice the dog, who is almost two years old.

But she kept moving inside the pen so the man had to step forward and grab the pet before leaving with her in his arms.

The sister of the owner has released the footage and is urging people to help track down the hooded figure in the clip.

She told The Sun Online: "Her kids are heartbroken. Her four-year-old daughter was in tears and kept 'Why has that man taken our doggy'.

"We had to tell her that he is babysitting Daisy for a while and we're desperately trying to track down the man.

"We contacted the police on Friday but they told us we need to speak to the RSPCA first.

"The man is disgusting. It's heartbreaking to watch - Daisy is not just a dog, she's a family member."

She added: "My sister is devastated, she's anxious and really upset.

"The dog doesn’t live outside, she puts her in the play pen because there are holes in the fence and she doesn’t want her getting run over."

The Sun Online has contacted South Yorkshire Police for comment.
