A SENIOR Met officer could be sacked for alleged racism after saying “whiter than white” in a work briefing.

The detective superintendent used the phrase while reminding colleagues of the need to be above reproach.

But the Met received a complaint and passed it on to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

The officer — who is in a Line Of Duty-style anti-corruption unit — has been put on restricted duties until the investigation is over. It could take up to a year.

Last night the Plain English Campaign blasted the probe as “ludicrous”.

The Police Superintendents’ Association said the officer “strenuously denies any wrongdoing”.

A Met spokesman refused to comment.
