COMMONS authorities are probing a potential security breach after Jeremy Corbyn’s Private Secretary worked in his Parliament office for almost a year despite being denied clearance.

Iram Awan - who uses the slogan “dissent is patriotic” on her social media profile – appears to have failed security checks and has not been issued with an official pass.

But despite this she has been escorted in almost daily to the Leader of the Opposition’s office to work for the last nine months – which is against the rules.

It also emerged last night Mr Corbyn’s close adviser Andrew Murray - who works at least a day a week for the Labour leader - also has no official pass.

Last night a Commons spokesman confirmed: “Visitor passes are for visitors only, they cannot be used to carry out work on the parliamentary estate.

“An investigation into an alleged breach of Parliamentary rules has been launched and so we will not be commenting further.”

But Labour sources said they had not been made aware any member of staff had been refused a pass or any reasons for why any pass may not have yet been granted.

It’s understood Ms Awan – who was involved with Ken Loach’s Left Unity party and George Soros’ Open Society Foundations network - lives in a flat in west London with her press officer partner.

It is thought the British born political aide and former activist has been denied a pass due to her previous associations.

A spokesman for Jeremy Corbyn refused repeatedly to answer any questions surrounding her employment or security clearance yesterday. He would only say they would not comment on “staffing matters”.
