US PRESIDENT Donald Trump is under fire after again seeming to side with his staff who have been accused of domestic violence.

After his speechwriter David Sorenson was forced to resign amid allegations that he was abusive to his wife during their marriage, Mr Trump sent out a tweet urging people not to rush to judgement.

“People’s lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused - life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?” he wrote.

Mr Trump’s speechwriter David Sorensen has become the second member of his staff this week to resign after claims of domestic violence were raised against them by their ex-wives.

The Washington Post detailed allegations his ex-wife Jessica Corbett made against him — including that he ran over her foot in a car, put out a cigarette out on her hand, threw her into a wall, and grasped her by her hair while they were alone on their boat.

In a statement to the paper, Mr Sorensen said he was “the victim of repeated physical violence during our marriage, not her.”

Earlier in the week White House staff secretary Rob Porter’s ex-wives Colbie Holderness and Jennifer Willoughby detailed the abuse they say they suffered while married to him.

Ms Holderness said that Mr Porter choked and punched her during their marriage.

Ms Willoughby said that he had once dragged her wet and naked out of the shower and was verbally abusive, calling her a f**king b**ch’ on their honeymoon.

Mr Trump’s chief of staff General John Kelly initially praised Mr Porter as a “man of true integrity and honour” when the story came out.

However, a day later when Ms Holderness produced a photo of herself with a black eye that she says she received when Mr Porter threw a vase at her, Gen. Kelly came out with a statement condemning domestic violence and Mr Porter resigned.

Gen. Kelly reportedly told US president Donald Trump that he’s willing to quit over his botched handling of the domestic violence allegations.

According to theNew YorkPost, Gen. Kelly told Mr Trump that he would resign after the president thought his shifting statements on Mr Porter made the White House look bad, ABC News reported, citing sources.

Mr Trump is reportedly upset with both Gen. Kelly and communications director Hope Hicks, who reportedly helped draft the chief of staff’s message supporting Mr Porter — the man she is currently in a relationship with.

Mr Trump reportedly told Ms Hicks that he believes her relationship with Mr Porter has clouded her judgement.

Yesterday, Mr Trump was attacked on social media for lavishing praise on Mr Porter but failing to mention his alleged victims.

Mr Trump said he was “sad” about Mr Porter’s departure and that his former staffer was having a “tough time”.

Social media users reposted a tweet of Mr Trump’s from 2012 where he told pop singer Rihanna not to stay with Chris Brown after he assaulted her.

“A beater is always a beater - just watch!” he wrote at the time.

Others compared his defence of Mr Porter to his comments on the Charlottesville riots, where a white supremacist ran over protesters and killed Heather Heyer, saying there were “good people on both sides” of the protests.
