AS the White House continues to deal with the fallout from controversial book Fire and Fury, another book revealing behind the scenes details of Donald Trump’s presidency is about to hit the stands.

Media Madness: Donald Trump, The Press, And The War Over Truth is written by veteran US journalist Howard Kutz, and excerpts ahead of its January 29 release have given more of a glimpse of the chaos behind the White House doors.

Kurtz, who hosts the Fox News show Media Buzz, is reportedly a little kinder to the US president than Fire and Fury author Michael Wolff, but snippets obtained by The Washingon Post detail how Trump’s controversial tweets infuriate staff, who can’t control his impulses and refer to his behaviour as “defiance disorder”.

Trump’s tweets about banning transgender people from serving military and his claim that the Obama White House wiretapped him during the campaign caused the most uproar among staff.

“Priebus knew the staff would have to fall into line to prove the tweet correct, the opposite of the usual process of vetting proposed pronouncements,” Kurtz said in the book.

“Once the president had committed to 140 characters, he was not going to back off.”

But in a more vulnerable side to Trump which we don’t often see, Kurtz also writes about how the president admitted he was wrong to engage in the debate over crowd sizes during the inauguration.

Although Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway tried to dissuade Trump from ordering Spicer to attack the press, Trump had Spicer do it anyway, leading to an entire news cycle about inauguration crowd sizes and ridicule.

“You were right,” Trump told his staff, according to the book. “I shouldn’t have done that.”

The book hits stands on January 29.
