SCOTT Morrison has apologised for a bizarre social media post featuring a hip-hop song that contained explicit and sexually charged lyrics.

The Prime Minister’s 11-second clip from Question Time showed MPs raising their hands in synch, with the 2006 hip hop track Be Faithful by Fatman Scoop playing in the background.

The suggestive lyrics were not included in the brief video, but the full song contains six uses of the word “f**k.

The clip was posted to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram on Thursday before being taken down.

“The full lyrics of the song used in my earlier video from QT today were just not OK.

When I found out, I asked the team to take it down. Apologies,” Mr Morrison tweeted.

Despite the video being deleted from all of Mr Morrison’s accounts, social media users retained the clip and it remains easily accessible on Twitter.

It social media into a meltdown, with one user claiming the country was being “run by a 13-year-old”.

He continued the youthful persona with an equally modern caption, saying QT was “on fire”.

The video had been viewed more than 170,000 times before the PM deleted it.

Later parts of the song, not in the brief snippet that featured in the post, include expletives and sexual references.

And while many saw the humorous side to it, with some saying the “gold” clip was refreshing to see from a national leader, others branded it an “embarrassing” PR stunt and accused Mr Morrison of behaving like a teenager when he has more serious things to focus on.

MPs also started to weighed in as the original post went viral, with several Labor members using it as an opportunity to stick the knife in as the Libs deal with ongoing disasters following the leadership spill.

Victorian MP Tim Watts replied to the video with a GIF of Elmo on fire, while SA MP Chris Picton posted a video of a shipping container on fire - both referencing Mr Morrison’s “on fire” caption.
