MOSCOW, February 26 (Itar-Tass) - RIA Novosti. The restrictive measures that the West imposed on Russia will remain forever, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin believes.

"Sanctions are the reaction of the old, material enemy to our reinforcement, and they will be lifted only if we become weak again," he said in an interview with the Kommersant newspaper.

According to him, for Russia sanctions are a chance to show the best features of a national character.

In response to a question whether the sanctions are not hampered by the rearmament of the army, Rogozin explained that there are "difficulties", but the measures have been taken.

"An unsanctioned headquarters of the collegium of the military-industrial complex has been created, whose main task is to prevent disruptions in the delivery of military products to internal and external customers," the deputy prime minister said.

Sanctions against Russia

In August last year, US President Donald Trump signed the CAATSA law, directed against Russia, Iran and the DPRK. In the autumn, the White House presented a list of individuals and organizations in the Russian defense and intelligence sector, for "significant" transactions with which sanctions could be imposed.

The State Department said that the document will become a deterrent for those wishing to conclude deals with Russian companies and has already led to "billions of losses for the Russian defense industry."

Relations between Russia and the West deteriorated against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis. Moscow was accused of illegally annexing the Crimea and interference in the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the Crimean people voted democratically, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter, to reunite with Russia. In addition, Moscow emphasizes that it is not a side of the Ukrainian conflict.

After the introduction of restrictions by Western countries, Russia took retaliatory measures and set the course for import substitution. Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is counterproductive to talk with it in the language of sanctions. Recently, in the EU countries, opinions about the need to abolish them are becoming increasingly clear.
