SOUTH Australian pasta brand San Remo has won praise from consumers, as its Pulse Pasta

was voted Product of the Year 2019 in the pasta and rice category at the 2019 Consumers’ Choice awards announced yesterday.

Pulse Pasta is gluten free, made from flour from pulses like lentils, chickpeas and borlotti beans.

San Remo said the pasta is an alternative to traditional wheat pasta, and is completely plant based.

More than 14,000 Australian consumers voted for their favourite products of the year.

San Remo is the first South Australian business to take out a Product of the Year title in a food category.

Erik de Roos, chief marketing officer at San Remo, said: “We continue to see a growing demand for gluten free pasta alternatives,with our gluten free pasta variants now making up nearly 10 per cent of our total pasta sales.”
