THIS is the dramatic moment a Ryanair plane was forced to abandon its landing at Dublin airport as 90mph Storm Ali winds batter the UK.

The flight can be seen swaying from side-to-side as it approaches the runway after arriving from Brussels this morning.

But just as it is about to touch down, it suddenly veers back upwards and into the sky.

Passenger Kirsten Jongberg tweeted about the drama at around 9.50am today as Storm Ali battered the UK and Ireland.

She said: "Just had the worst flight of my life - this is my plane having to abort landing at the last second.

"There was much screaming and crying from passengers, but pilots guided us in safely on second attempt."

Eyewitness Eric Duffy told the Standard: “We were collecting a friend from the airport. It got delayed so we went to the viewing point.

"It was so windy that most of the planes were having to abandon touchdown and take off again.

“It was crazy, so scary. The planes were literally rocking from side to side. Even when they managed to touch down, you weren’t sure what was going to happen."

Ryanair confirmed the flight performed a "routine go-around due to high winds" and later landed safely.

Storm Ali has crashed into the UK with 90mph winds causing travel chaos and a "danger to life".

A woman in her 50s died in County Galway after a caravan she was sleeping in was blown over a cliff on to the beach below.

More than 80,000 homes have been left without power as downed trees take down power lines.

An amber warning is now covering Northern Ireland, northern parts of England and southern Scotland, prompting the Met Office to issue the danger to life warning.

Yellow weather warnings are in place for the rest of the UK, with forecasters warning commuters could face travel chaos as branches are pulled from trees and tiles ripped from roofs.
