Roskomnadzor decided not to block YouTube because of "Open Russia"

Roskomnadzor plans to achieve the removal of accounts of "Open Russia" on Twitter and YouTube, which received the previous requirements on the eve, through negotiations, a representative of the agency told RBC.

"Currently, Roskomnadzor expects to meet the requirements of Russian legislation through dialogue with foreign social networks and YouTube," he said. The ministry specified that while negotiations are ongoing, there is no threat of blocking these resources.

In a letter from Roscomnadzor to Twitter, referenced by "Open Russia", the service was given a day to fulfill Russian laws, otherwise it was threatened with blocking on the territory of Russia. On April 26, the Prosecutor General's Office recognized as undesirable the organization "Open Russia", registered in Great Britain and associated with Mikhail Khodorkovsky, as well as the public network movement of the same name (also registered in Great Britain). On Thursday, December 14, the organization reported that a request for the removal of her account was sent to YouTube.

A representative of the agency had previously told RBC that on the basis of the requirements of the Prosecutor General's Office Roskomnadzor sent 21 Internet resources to the lock with materials of organizations recognized as undesirable in Russia, as well as their "mirrors". "Some of these Internet resources fulfilled the requirement, some did not," he said, and Roskomnadzor warned that it could limit access to the Internet media if they placed "materials of an undesirable organization."

Earlier on December 12, the Russian social network "Classmates" blocked the page of "Open Russia". "We received a notification from Roskomnadzor and, based on it, were obliged by law to restrict access to the group," its representative explained.

... it always make me kinda smile how the word Roskomnadzor itself is now used by many in Runet as euphemism for suiside.
well, actually it is euphemism for many other things too now = the things that would get web site banned if the site contains references to them - smth like suiside, drugs, *gay propaganda* (as they call it) etc...
