Renter writes hilarious reply to angry neighbour’s note

A TENANT has sent Twitter into meltdown with her hilarious response to a neighbour’s angry note about her garden.

Keli Thomson had a nightmare week after her bathroom floor sunk and required an emergency refit — all while her landlord was on holiday, The Sun reports.

And the 24-year-old was stunned to find a note moaning about the rubble in her garden in Edinburgh, Scotland when she came home on Friday afternoon.

In the note, the mystery moaner threatened to pass on photos of the mess to Edinburgh City Council if it wasn’t removed immediately.

They said: “Move the rubbish from your garden. We’ve taken photos and video recorded the mess.

“If all the mess isn’t removed over the weekend all the evidence will be passed on to Edinburgh Council.”

At this point, “notegate” hilarity unfolded.

The singer shut down the “Angry Sir/Madame” with a sarcastic four-page note of her own — inviting them round for a cuppa and asking them to chase up the council about recycling bins when they call in the complaint.

Amused Keli also branded the mystery complainer a “sh**ebag” for not signing their name on the note.

She added: “Thank you for making me aware of the rubbish in my garden. I had no idea, but your passive aggressive threatening note made me notice — HORAY!

“I’m so glad you wrote to be honest, because now I know that someone else is concerned about the welfare of the garden (which no one else has helped with in the six years I’ve lived here. Next time it may be useful to knock on my door. Pop around any time.

“Also, if you contact the council, please let them know I’m still waiting for a recycling bin.”

But Keli’s response was quickly ripped down and replaced with repeated threats.

So, naturally, Keli penned another reply — and even FRAMED it.

She joked: “I feel I may have went a little too extra with the framing of this one.”

Posting on Twitter about ‘notegate’, Keli said: “Walked into a passive aggressive note about bathroom rubbish from my FRESHLY done up bathroom in my garden (totally out of my control) threatening the COONCIL on me.

“They didn’t catch me on my friendliest of days.

“How to be a cheeky c**t 101.”

Her Twitter commentary of the exchange has already racked up 13,000 likes and almost 2000 retweets since it was posted on Friday afternoon.

And Keli thanked her neighbour for the social media fame.

She said: “I want to thank you however, your note has made me somewhat famous.

“Congrats for us providing the world with some top quality entertainment.

“I framed this for you because I am really grateful you got mad at me and made me Twitter famous. I’ve already received some new fans of my band because of all this hype.”

In a cheeky swipe, she added: “If you don’t want to keep this frame please just throw this in the pile of rubbish in my front garden and I’ll deal with it later.”

Keli has now swapped six notes with her angry neighbour — and other residents in the close are backing her in the neighbour wars.

At one point, the note writer claims the “whole stair is now against you”.

But a fellow neighbour left their own message: “Please don’t speak for all of us.

“The ‘whole stair’ is not against Flat 1.”

Amused, Keli said: “Neighbours keep stopping to talk to me about my notes.

“They all find it amusing. No one knows the culprit yet but we have a sneaking suspicious of who.”

Social media users can’t get enough of the hilarious exchange — dubbed the Eastenders for Piershill.

One Twitter user said: “Beautifully written response Keli, fair play for not sinking to their level.”

Another joked: “You’re the hero we need in this world. Do you have a stylish cape.”

Josey Pickering added: “You are an iron badass holy sh*t. I’m going to use you as motivation to stand up for myself, you rule.”

Meanwhile, Kate Crawford wrote: This is the kinda girl power/ take no bull***t inspiration that I am needing today.”

Speaking about the notes, Keli said: “I prefer to kill with kindness or wit, even if it is heavily saturated in sarcasm.

“The fact that social media seems to be on my side is very satisfying. Feels like a v good victory in the neighbour wars.”

And she is hoping the drama of notegate will continue.

She added: “I am (im) patiently awaiting a response because I can’t wait to be even more cheeky.”
