A RARE and dangerous fire whirl has been caught on camera in British Columbia, Canada.

The video shows the spinning fire tornado was so strong it sucked the firefighters’ hose into it.

Three firemen can be seen battling against the fire in a tug-of-war, eventually winning as they retrieve their hose – completely melted.

Frustrated with their inability to put out the blaze, one firefighter can be seen throwing a rock at the whirl.

Firefighter Mary Schidlowsky took to Instagram to post the dramatic video, saying the tornado was at least 200ft tall and so strong it launched burning logs across the field – spreading the fire.

The rare phenomenon is caused when fire, rising heat and high winds combine.

This time, the firenado was part of a bushfire at Chutanli Lake on the August 19.
