Tasmanian shark attack survivor Justine Barwick is learning to walk again, just days after she was mauled by a shark in the Whitsundays.

The mother of two, 46, is recovering in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital from a life-threatening bite to her leg after being attacked while swimming in Cid Harbour last Wednesday.

"I am learning to walk again but there are many hours of physio and occupational therapy sessions in my future. I think I am up to the task!" Ms Barwick said in a statement on Friday.
