SECURITY costs for Princess Eugenie's wedding have more than doubled to £2million over fears of another terror attack, a report claims.

Cops will throw a ring of steel around Windsor Castle when the 28-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew ties the knot at St George's Chapel in October.

Beefed up security measures are expected to be on the same level as when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got hitched at the same venue in May.

Minor royal Eugenie is due to marry Jack Brooksbank, a tequila brand ambassador, on October 12 after they got engaged in January.

Since then it is claimed security costs have more than doubled due to fears of an attack targeting the royal family.

A royal source told the Daily Mirror: “The Duke of York has insisted his daughter’s wedding must be a huge occasion to be remembered and wants everyone to get on board to celebrate the happy couple.”

According to the paper Prince Andrew has demanded a similar wedding to Harry and Meghan’s for his younger daughter with Sarah Ferguson, with all the expected pomp and pageantry.

Eugenie and Jack are reportedly hoping to have an open-top carriage procession along Windsor High Street.

Beefed up security measures are likely to include swarms of armed officers, a ban on drones flying over the castle and coppers lining the route.

Policing Eugenie’s wedding was initially set to cost around £750,000 but this is said to have increased due to overtime, cancelling holidays and the need for extra patrols.

Police sources have said they have no intelligence of any threat or indication of any serious anti-monarchy protests but said nothing would be left to chance.

In charge of operations are the Met, Thames Valley and the British Transport Police.

But after this week’s Westminster terror attack, other forces are said to have been asked to potentially help out, if needed.

Eugenie and sister Beatrice, 30, said this month they just want to be seen as “real”.

The guestlist is a secret but those who could be attending could be Hollywood film star George Clooney and his wife Amal, model Cara Delevingne, actress Suki Waterhouse and supermodels Kate Moss and Cindy Crawford.

The Queen is expected to attend her granddaughter's wedding along with other senior members of the royal household.

Pop star Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field are likely to attend as their daughter Theodora Rose is going to be a flower girl.

Beatrice will be maid of honour and Prince William’s children George, five, and Charlotte, three, are expected to be a page boy and flower girl.

Jack’s and Eugenie’s parents will pay for the wedding and reception.

A royal spokesman said: “Costs for security will be shared by individual police forces and the local council but all other costs for the wedding will be met privately.”
